Therapy in Tottenham

IMG_0023

I am a psychotherapist and counsellor based in Tottenham, North London with more than 10 years’ experience of working with people facing issues such as depression, anxiety and stress management, grief, trauma, addiction, relationship problems, low self-esteem, self-injury, sexual difficulties, living with neurodiversity and work-related concerns. I provide a confidential space for both individuals and couples to address their suffering. I see people in person or online.

Many of the people who come to see me are struggling with the consequences of painful childhood experiences, including growing up with a narcissistic, abusive or addicted parent. I have worked extensively with members of the LGBTQI+ community. I have a high level of knowledge and understanding when it comes to working with people who have been bereaved in a particularly traumatic way, such as through suicide or a sudden accident. Another area of special interest is therapy with those who suffer from perfectionism and its inevitable counterpart, chronic self-hatred.

My therapeutic approach is psychoanalytic, meaning that I seek to help people understand how unconscious psychological issues may be contributing to the difficulties they are having, whether as individuals or as part of a couple. I believe that psychoanalytic psychotherapy leads to more longstanding change than approaches focused on providing solutions or emotional support alone.

I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), one of the main regulatory bodies for therapists in the UK, and follow their ethical framework. I am also a Senior Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, meaning that I have achieved a recognised standard of professional excellence and ethical practice.

I am a member of Pink Therapy, which is dedicated to working with clients in a way that respects gender and sexual diversity. Many of the people I have worked with are autistic or have a diagnosis of ADHD/ADD and my practice does not pathologise those whose neurotype differs from the predominant neurotype.

I work in private practice in Tottenham, Haringey.  I also work as an honorary psychotherapist at an NHS service for people who self-harm or experience an eating disorder. I have worked as a therapist for a bereavement service in Camden, for a mental health charity in Hackney, for a charity that supports adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and for a project that offers psychotherapy to people experiencing psychosis.

I am registered as a counsellor with health insurance providers Aetna Global Benefits, Aviva, Axa, Bupa, Healix and Vitality Health.

I work in English or French and see clients once, twice or three times a week.
